Drake at Microsoft’s Bing Event (LA)

Last night at Microsoft’s Bing Event in Hollywood, Drizzy took a minute to pay homage to one of rap’s fallen soldiers. During his performance of “Show Me A Good Time”, Drake stopped to recite J.Dilla’s verse from Slum Village’s “Climax” right after his line…. (3:12)

“Out in L.A. blowing clouds to the killer/ I came up in the underground though/ so I’ma spend another ten thousand for Dilla“

(Thanks to Nation for the heads up, footage via Rap-Up)

After the jump, check out some preview clips from Drake’s MTV documentary Better Than Good Enough, produced by Radical Media who also did Jay’s Fade to Black. Drake’s Documentary airs tonight at 10pm on MTV.

Drake’s Thank Me Later liner notes

Even though Drake’s album leaked last week, I’m pretty sure his fans will still be buying the official copy so they can have the official liner notes and album art. Thanks to the homie DJ Kitsune for sending over snapshots of his copy of the album, via Germany, you can see that Drake put alot of effort into that forgotten art of the “thank you’s.” Along with long notes to his family, Drake also shows his appreciation for his music collaborators and contemporaries….

To Lil Wayne: Thanks for risking your credibility in order to put forth something so different. you are my idol, my mentor, and my friend. I am by your side forever.”

Drake thanks his managers, Cortez Bryant, Gee Roberson, and all of his artist-friends, like Swizz, Kanye, Young Jeezy (he calls him his big bro), Alicia Keys, etc.

To Jay-Z, I can’t express to you how much I value your presence in my life….and to Nasir Jones for inspiring my whole mindset on this record.”

And, yes, Drake’s special friend Maliah Michel gets a mention too ; ) But I love that he also puts “Drake’s knee would like to thank Paul for doing the surgery.”

DJ Khaled brings out Cam’ron, Vado, Barrington Levy, Fat Joe, and Rick Ross

Hot97’s Summer Jam 2010 was an enjoyable show with no drama (well, at least, backstage), great weather, and big performances. I was especially interested to see how Drake would graduate from 2009 cameo to 2010 headliner, and Nicki Minaj rocked her first SJ like a true star (appearing in 4 different sets). I moved around from the new radio-broadcast room, to the side of the stage, and finally ended up at the corporate skybox with the suits but that’s where I watched what felt like the emotional high point of the night.
I didn’t even expect for Khaled’s set to get the crowd this hype but he was smart about the pacing (one verse and switch), and he played to the Tri-State crowd. It wasn’t about pushing his own acts or agenda. He had T-Pain and Busta come out. Then Rawse did “BMF” for the hood, Fat Joe repped the Bronx, Barrington Levy killed with his classic dancehall sing-a-long (was I the only one who thought Shyne was about to come out?)….and, of course, the building went bonkers when Cam’ron jumped out for his first Summer Jam appearance in years. Vado showed his potential with his “Speakin’ Tungs,” debut, and Khaled closed out with some good “All I do is Win” crowd participation.
(if you were at Summerjam, what did you think got the biggest crowd response of the night?)

Reebok – Pump Omni Light + Insta Pump Fury – Flight Jacket Pack

Just when you thought you were safe from all of the Pump goodies from Reebok, they brings us more treats in the form of the Flight Jacket Pack. With the self explanatory title, it is easy to see where the inspiration for the pack came from. This collection includes the classic Insta Pump Fury and Pump Omni Lite in two flight jacket color combos.

The Army Green color is the most traditional with details in bright safety orange and gold. Textural play is perfect on these Pumps too as the upper gets a mix of water repellent and play dry treatment to increase its functional versatility. As such, these can be taken from sports to outdoor to shopping. Quilted nylon toe box reflects the inner lining of flight jackets and it is matched by smooth leather components, plastic and rubber parts. White midsoles break up the monotony and ups the brightness factor by a good notch. These are available for pre-order from atmos from June 8th and expect these to hit the shelves from mid June.

BREAKING: Gary Coleman's wife might have killed him

In a bizarre twist to Gary Coleman's death, it turns out he was divorced from his wife Shannon Price. A fact she failed to mention to hospital officials before pulling the plug on him. TMZ reports:

Gary's divorce lawyer, Randy Kester, tells TMZ the couple divorced on August 12, 2008, and as far as he knows they never remarried.
Kester does not know if Price had a power of attorney to make medical decisions.
A hospital official tells TMZ they have "become aware he may not have been married to her." But the official said she was portraying herself as Gary's wife and they didn't require further proof.
Couple this with the 911 call showcasing Shannon's staggering inability to place a towel on an unconscious midget's head, and it looks like Gary Coleman's life may have been cut - *takes off sunglasses* - a little short.

RZA addresses Jay Electronica being offended by his past comments about Southern rappers

Rza finally addressed his past comments regarding the intelligence level and quality of lyricism from Southern rappers that offended Jay Electronica —he basically pointed out the fact that none of his past comments weren’t meant to be demeaning but based on his personal experiences with his own family who came from the South and struggled because of their location and environment.

“I don’t know the exact comment, but I remember I did an article in Rap Pages years ago, ’cause me and Master P had a talk about this years ago. I was speaking on the education level in the South, how brothers drop out … in the sixth grade — some of them because they have to go to work, some of them because of the poverty, some because they’re not interested in the education system … just a lot of crazy things that people from up North had evolved from. When I was doing this article, I was taking about my own family at first. My family comes from the South. They frying fat back in the kitchen, Grandpops didn’t have more than a sixth-grade reading level. My grandma was a welfare mom.” – Rza

He closed by stating that the South simply evolved later than the East and that Hip-Hop was a unifying force that belongs in all regions of the world. (Props MTV News)
