Wyclef To Run For President of Haiti
Well, we might as well start calling this guy Mr. President now because I can’t imagine that Haiti isn’t going to elect him damn near unanimously. Or will they? Will his ubiquitous popularity in his homeland translate to a sweep of the election, or do Haitians only view him as an inspirational leader and not necessarily a political one? Can you even be elected to public office if you’ve made a song with ODB? Either way, how sick would that be if he wins?

Justin Bieber Makes Beats with Dr. Dre
The 25 Best Songs Of 2010 [Via. Complex]
It’s obvious from our list of The 25 Best Albums Of 2010 (So Far) that this year has blessed us with more than a few bangers that can be played from the intro to the bonus cuts. But we also live in a time when the iTunes charts mean just as much as the Billboard charts, so sometimes a song will get played 50 times straight just because it’s that hot. We wield this annoying tendency of ours without regard for genre, artist, album, or co-signs; it’s really just whatever grabs our attention. So for the last of our Best of 2010 (So Far) series, we considered all songs and freestyles released BEFORE July 2010, and came up with a diverse set of 25 that we’d gladly put on repeat any day.
T.I. ft. Keri Hilson – Got Your Back (Preview)
Here’s a preview of the video for Cliff’s new Keri assisted single off King Uncaged.
[On The Set]Drake x Lil Wayne – ‘Miss Me’
Weezy certainly put in a lot of work before heading for prison. Here are some pictures from the video shoot of the two together before Drake shot another portion few days ago. Two more flicks below.
Drake Shouts Out J. Cole, Wale, Kid Cudi, Big Sean & Nicki Minaj In Montreal
Drizzy x Metropolis 5
Uploaded by hithiphop. - Technology reviews and science news videos.
During his show in Montreal, Canada last night, Drake took the time to shout out some of his peers.
Rick Ross Talks Drake’s Verse On ‘Aston Martin Music’
Rick Ross tells MTV that he only wanted Drake to record the second part of the chorus but the Toronto boy loved the beat so much that he wanted to do a verse as well. That resulted in the extended version of the song which Ross says might be included in the re-release / Deluxe version of Teflon Don.
The Roots – ‘The Fire’ (Feat. John Legend) (Video Trailer)
Here goes a lil teaser for the upcoming Roots video directed by Rik Cordero. Now this looks like a movvviiieee. No Khaled.
Dr. Dre’s HP Envy Laptop Commercial
And so the official, Jimmy Iovine sanctioned roll-out of “Under Pressure” begins. If you listen real close I think you can hear an NMC tag. I wonder if the song is still sitting around Dre’s studio “unfinished” and they just sold HP the instrumental? I also wonder if they were shooting for intentional irony by using a song that Dre seems reluctant to complete and release, from an album that he seems reluctant to complete and release, in a commercial that depicts him “remastering” and improving a laptop for the marketplace. It looks like they’re gonna extend this ridiculously long and drawn out album hype cycle with an additional, exhausting promotional build up to an album that can’t possibly be good enough to justify this decade long jerk around we’ve been getting.
Video: Rick Ross Talks About Jeezy’s “B.M.F.”
Ross and Jeezy will be beefing withing a week or so. Yesterday during his promotional conference call somebody asked Jeezy whether or not his version of “B.M.F.” with Meech was a shot at The Cop and he made a point of not denying that it was, so yeah. Jeezy better watch it or he’s gonna risk coming off like a clown though. Yeah, you got the real Meech on your shit, but Ross has the hotter song, which is all people care about at the end of the day.
Ras Kass ft. HRSMN – This Sh*t Right Here
Ras reunites the HRSMN (himself, Canibus, Killah Priest and Kurupt) for this cut off A.D.I.D.A.S. which finally drops today. If you cop it from Bandcamp and use the code ‘HRSMN’, you can get 30% off until July 22nd.

Video: Dow Jones of Tha Bizness Talks Carter IV
Dow Jones, one-half of Tha Bizness, tells Rap-Up that “Tha Carter IV will change your life.”
When asked if their Carter IV tracks have features, he only gives a hint that one of them features someone Drake wanted to get on his album. Immediately I thought Andre 3000 but a few seconds later, Dow says “it’s someone Wayne’s never had a song with, but should’ve.”
Drake PAPER Magazine Interview Outtakes (Avoiding The Internet, His Andre 3000 Shrine, Wants To Play Obama)
PAPER Magazine (organizers of that infamous free Drake show) just put up outtakes from their cover story interview by Jozen Cummings.
On negative blog commenters:
I stopped going on a computer. I have a problem where if I go read a hundred positive things about me and there’s one guy in there who says ‘I hate Drake’ that’s the one I pay attention to. I think that’s a common problem. Negativity hurts us more than positivity helps us. I asked about 10 or 20 people around me, ‘When’s the last time you went on a website and commented on something, like a song dropped and you went on and said, ‘That song is hot’ or ‘That song is terrible?’ And everyone I asked around me, whose opinions I respect, the people I love, were like, ‘I’ve never done that before.’ And these are all level-headed, intelligent people whose opinion I respect, so I just started saying to myself, ‘It takes a certain type of individual to really participate in a group discussion about someone else, especially if they’re going super hard with consistent hate.
On playing Obama:
I hope somebody makes a movie about Obama’s life soon because I could play him. That’s the goal [laughs]. I watch all the addresses. Anytime I see him on TV, I don’t change the channel, I definitely pay attention and listen to the inflections of his voice. If you ask anyone who knows me, I’m pretty good at impressions. Slowly but surely, I’m not in the study mode because nobody’s called me about anything, but I just pay attention so when the day comes I’m not scrambling to learn how to speak like him. I want to be involved in great film projects. I don’t want to do the basketball movie that everyone does. I don’t want to do the typical black film that everyone expects. I think that I have enough experience to actually be involved in a real meaty project full of substance.
How he honors Andre 3000:
I have a shrine in my apartment dedicated to Andre. I took a door off a barn and had an artist take the lyrics from his verses [and put them] on this barn door. As soon as you walk into my apartment that’s the first thing you see.
Why he’s not concerned about overexposure:
Overexposure would be me in every single video, me on Twitter every single day, me… having my hand in all these pots because I feel I’m hot. That’s overexposure. Overexposure isn’t when people love you too much and are excited. I hate when people confuse the two. I actually say no way more than I say yes to opportunities are presented to me.

Lindsay Lohan x KAWS Cover Complex Magazine (Aug/Sept.10)
Hip-Hop loves Lindsay Lohan. I mean she’s a bad ass white girl that doesn’t seem to give a f*ck about what anyone has to say about her and as Complex says “is on that rap sh*t.” And pairing her with Kaws, fuggedaboutit. I even remember when Linds said 50, Diddy and Dame all tried to holla at her on different occasions ahaha. Anyway, read on to find out why Lindsay was picked as Plex’s latest cover girl and what she did… or didn’t have to say…
“Rappers might be on that rock shit, but Lindsay Lohan is on that rap shit. Flaking on interviews? Check. Unrepentant bad behaviour? Check. Gully enough to ignore a bench warrant, come back from Europe for a legal hearing, and have her court-supplied alcohol bracelet go off at the MTV Movie Awards? Check and mate. She’s Weezy, Yeezy, and motherfucking Jeezy all in one. Who else would choose her comeback vehicles to be Robert Rodriguez’s Machete and the Linda Lovelace biopic, Inferno? That’s gully on both counts. ” (Read the full story at Complex)

Video: Murs Talks About Jay Rock Ban From Paid Dues
Murs talks to Angela Yee about why Jay Rock was banned from this year’s Paid Dues festival. It sounds to me like he’s saying that the main concern was for Cube’s safety. Was their little war of words really that serious? I wonder how Cube would respond to that?

Off Laws’ followup to his 4:57 debut mixtape, 5:01 Overtime (out 7/20.)

Pusha T (of Clipse) x G.O.O.D. Music?
We’ve heard G.O.O.D. Music camp members Consequence, Kid Cudi and Big Sean talk about their family’s grand scheme of making September 14 “G.O.O.D. Music Day.” Kanye West and his three signees are all supposed to drop albums that day. But will there be another name added to the fold? The Clipse’s Pusha T is putting out his first solo mixtape, The Fear of God, that day as well, raising speculation that he’s doing it be as part of the Louis Vuitton Don’s roster?
“That’s just a good day,” Pusha told MTV News Thursday night in New York at an EA Sports event to promote the game “Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.”
“A great day for music, but it’s a ‘good’ day,” he said, slyly repeating the word. “I mean, you know. I been to Hawaii. Hawaii is a nice place. Good music is made down there, ya know. So, yeah, I was there. I can’t say too much about that. I think everybody’s gonna be in for a big surprise. A very big surprise.” – MTV

Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke By Reggie E. Holloway
Of all the celebrities, designers, and influencers that stopped by NIKEiD Bespoke at Nike Sportswear 21 Mercer Street, the most significant Air Force 1 was this one, created posthumously by Reggie E. Holloway, which debut this week. To narrow it into a single term which best described Holloway. It would be that he was passionate. A heartful personality with love beyond the walls of his Houston home, Holloway was an active member in world of kicks virtual community online. A devotee to the some of the most unattainable editions, Holloway and his father, also an avid collector, would scour the web for that one pair. But it was his friendship among his comrades, that rare commune-ship among patrons of NikeTalk, Uptowns.net, and ISSfroums, that most would remembered him by.
When his untimely passing was announced in March, that same group of comrades came together and formed what came to be known as the Reggie AF1 Project. Spearheaded by our friends DJ Clark Kent, Matt Halfhill (NiceKicks.com), and Brian (H Town Sneaker Summit), it took just over 24 hours for a donation drive to reached the needed $850 for the Nike iD Bespoke session to get under way. Inspired by Holloway’s fanfare of the Houston Rockets, the selected materials and colorways referenced the Rocket’s uniform from the early 90s. Through Nike’s generous contribution, 2 pairs of the Air Force 1 Bespoke were made, one in Holloway’s size and the other in his father’s size. In addition, Nike laser-etch 2 custom shoeboxes for the pairs. Both will be presented to the Holloway family in the near future.

M.I.A. - Interview
M.I.A. takes to a Los Angeles rooftop to speak about the writing process for her new album /\/\/\Y/\, her pick for the World Cup, and gets emotional when discussing an issue close to home, the Arizona immigration law, in an interview with Rockerrazzi. The “XXXO” singer, who will perform at the HARD Festival in L.A. and New York, even extends an invitation to Mexican immigrants who want to see her show.
“I wish HARD Fest was free just for Mexican people,” she said. “Everyone who’s crossed the Arizona borders are welcome at my show. I’ll make you a freakin’ passport. I got Nigerians on the phone.”
Young Jeezy's TM103 Coming in August
Kanye & Lebron
So Kanye went to Greenwich for this circus? I’m just glad this shit is over to be honest. Although I suppose it’s really just beginning. Man, it would’ve been nice if it would’ve been the Knicks. Oh well, I guess we can look forward to another 30 years without a title. Sucks for Cleveland, although you all had to know he was gonna skate.
You know what I find funny though? Yeah, this whole ‘decision’ nonsense that has been playing out over the last couple weeks has been utterly ridiculous. And yeah, that ESPN special was a flagrant exercise in hype. But not for nothing, it’s the media that’s been feeding this guy’s ego for the last 7+ years and inflating it to astronomical proportions. And now that same media is crucifying him for having an ego.
Who could live the life this dude lives and not get a big head? Which one of us could walk in his Nikes and remain humble? This is the way the game is played these days. Maximize exposure. Promote your brand. And hopefully get that ring. At least he didn’t run after the biggest check. That’s something you don’t see everyday in this culture.

Drake looks to Kanye’s new album for inspiration
Speaking with Funkflex, Drake says he’s looking to Kanye’s new album, Good Ass Job, to find inspiration for his own sophomore project. While Drizzy says he’s heard some of Kanye forthcoming LP, he looks forward to hearing the rest of the album right along with us.
“I’m very much looking forward to the Kanye West album because I need to be scared and inspired for my second joint. … Kanye’s a genuis I’m super excited for the rest of the album because I’ve heard some of it.
New Music: Rick Ross feat. Jay-Z - Free Mason
MTV just posted a transcript of Hov’s verse, and he dismisses the conspiracy theories about him being Illuminati (that was always so absurd to me). As expected, insane wordplay from both Hov and Ross. But this beat is a lil sleepy for me.
N—as couldn’t do nothing with me, they put the devil on me…I would have preferred n—as squeeze the metal on me/ Rumors of Lucifer, I don’t know who to trust/ The whole world wants my demise, turn the music up.
“If y’all n—as fear me, just say y’all fear me…F— all these fairy tales/ Go to hell, this is God engineering/ … I said I was amazing/ Not that I’m a Mason …/ I’m on my third six, but a devil I’m not…”-Jay-Z

I’ve made my fair share of jokes at the expense of Earl over the years, but watching his Behind the Music a couple of weeks ago made me remember just how much dude meant to Hip-Hop and my hometown back in his heyday. I hope he can get his shit straight. It’s either that or be a punchline for crackhead jokes for the rest of your life. You’re better than that Earl.

Bangladesh Speaks On Cash Money Not Paying Royalties For “A Milli”
Bangladesh vents to Rap-Up about Cash Money’s shiesty nature.
Slim & Baby have stiffed royalties for all of Carter 3’s singles: Jim Jonsin (“Lollipop”), Deezle (“Mrs. Officer”), and Play N Skillz (“Got Money”) have all filed lawsuits.
Not only that, they actually have the gall to sue their own producers… for a song that wasn’t even commercially released.

One of the greatest rock icons from American music is The Boss or more commonly known, Bruce Springsteen and Nike SB has dropped a quickstrike sneaker paying tribute to The Boss, just in time for the Independence Day on July 4th. The inspiration for these sneakers titled, Born in the USA aka Boss Nike Dunk SB High Premium is from the hit album from Springsteen of the same title. Patriotic red and white stripes are placed on the ankle section while American flag is stitched proudly on the tongue. Jeans is synonymous with rock music as well as the whole American culture and it is generously used on the upper against blue and white leather sections on the side and toe box.
