Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke By Reggie E. Holloway

Of all the celebrities, designers, and influencers that stopped by NIKEiD Bespoke at Nike Sportswear 21 Mercer Street, the most significant Air Force 1 was this one, created posthumously by Reggie E. Holloway, which debut this week. To narrow it into a single term which best described Holloway. It would be that he was passionate. A heartful personality with love beyond the walls of his Houston home, Holloway was an active member in world of kicks virtual community online. A devotee to the some of the most unattainable editions, Holloway and his father, also an avid collector, would scour the web for that one pair. But it was his friendship among his comrades, that rare commune-ship among patrons of NikeTalk, Uptowns.net, and ISSfroums, that most would remembered him by.

When his untimely passing was announced in March, that same group of comrades came together and formed what came to be known as the Reggie AF1 Project. Spearheaded by our friends DJ Clark Kent, Matt Halfhill (NiceKicks.com), and Brian (H Town Sneaker Summit), it took just over 24 hours for a donation drive to reached the needed $850 for the Nike iD Bespoke session to get under way. Inspired by Holloway’s fanfare of the Houston Rockets, the selected materials and colorways referenced the Rocket’s uniform from the early 90s. Through Nike’s generous contribution, 2 pairs of the Air Force 1 Bespoke were made, one in Holloway’s size and the other in his father’s size. In addition, Nike laser-etch 2 custom shoeboxes for the pairs. Both will be presented to the Holloway family in the near future.
